As in how do i tell if a piece of music is baroque, classical period or romantic era just by looking at it or hearing it ?

Hi,
im doing a dance performance and the storyline is that a girl gets bullied (i have the music 4 this part) and then she gets really upset about it, i need some music for this part it needs to be slow with preferably no words, or only words that would go with the storyline, and then after this i need a piece of music where she overcomes bullies and feels okay about herself. This music doesnt have to be fast, just uplifting and indicates she has overcome the bullies
many thanks
I am having a hard time picking out a classical piece of music like something from Bach, Mozart, Beethovann, Chopin or others and compare it to a contemporary piece of today? Help!
