There is this one town that I know of, lots of minorities live there. Its a poor area. For entertainment they always are promoting hip hop dj’s , and gangster/pimp and ho themed parties.

Then there is this other town I know of. It is very affluent. Its filled with alot of older people with lots of money. The bars there which are referred to as lounges since they are more upscale always are having piano singers and jazz for entertainment.

Why do these towns choose such different choices of music and themes for their parties?

My English 102 teacher told me about an article that was in the Arizona Republic about four years that he remembered reading. He said it was about a study that was done about music and benefits to learning. That students listened to music for 1/2 an hour and read a paper. Students that listened to music first had an easier time understanding the paper and greater retention of information than the students that didn’t listen to music. If anyone has any info that can help me, please let me know. Thanks!

Take for example that, as a 19-year-old college sophomore, I listen to everything from Woody Guthrie to The Rolling Stones to Johnny Cash to Led Zeppelin to Bobby Vinton to Hank Williams to The Bee Gees, yet my parents pretty much have stuck to mid-70s rock / easy listening, thus I think something else may be going on here. What influences our music tastes, exactly?

Hi. I need some help finding a way to listen to my music without having to turn on my computer and have to wait for ages for it to load up. Is there some way of doing this? And I don’t want to get an mp3 player, I want a player that will stay in my room all the time.
I also am considering getting some new speakers, so I would prefer not to buy something that has speakers included. But it doesn’t really matter.
