Teens: Do you listen to older music?

And if you do, who are your favorite artists?

Some of my favorite music genres are alternative rock, hard rock, classic rock, indie, heavy metal, punk, and rap. But music from the 30’s-60’s such as jazz, blues, rock & roll, easy listening, soul, folk, bluegrass and classical are the genres I listen to the most.

I’m 19 years old, and I think it’s a shame that most teens my age don’t listen to older music. But I understand every person has an opinion and not everyone has the same tastes in music. Mainly I think it’s because they haven’t grown up with it and haven’t been exposed to older music. What do you think?

Those are 2 of my favorite songs ever!
& I’m looking for more like it.

Idk why, but I’m not really sure what the genre is.
I’ve been told its alternative… but doesn’t alternative deal more with rock?
some sort of easy listening music?

Anyways, would you recommend some for me?

Thanksssss :D

Sorry to be so specific. But I am making a CD for someone and I want to put songs on it I know or think he will like. I don’t care if it is from the 70′s, 80′s, 90′s or today. Just nothing too hard. Top 40, easy listening, R & B, country, blues, all of that kind of stuff would be great. Please include the artist with the song and what kind of music it is if you wouldn’t mind.

My parents love 70′s and 80′s pop/rock, easy listening, disco, smooth R&B and contemporary country. That’s about it. I’m 19 and I actually like much older music than they do: blues, rock & roll, jazz, folk, bluegrass, psychedelic rock, classic rock, and British Invasion. But I listen to alternative rock, indie, metal, and rap occasionally. What about you?
